De-winterize your car

One of the first steps in getting your car ready for summer is to de-winterize it. This means taking off winter tires for summer tires. Check underneath the car for build up of road salts, which eat away metal and can make the engine run hotter as well. Be sure to check the air filter for salt as well. You can clean the car’s undercarriage with a hose, a pressure washer, or have it cleaned at a car wash. De-winterizing is just one of the first steps for summer car care.



Many people associate dead batteries and jump starts with the winter but it is just as important to care for your car’s battery in the summer. Heat can cause a batteries fluid to evaporate faster and cause chemical reactions to speed up resulting in an overcharge. In order to keep your battery in good health it is important to clean it: scrape away corrosion, wipe the terminals, and make sure the battery is tight and secured as vibrations can cause issues as well.
